The project.
Phantom Painters Marlow were brought in by a joinery company to assist with the timber window restoration of this four-star Marlow hotel, the Macdonald Compleat Angler, to ensure all timber windows were restored to a high standard.
Exterior timber window restoration with access by scaffolding and mobile access tower required qualified and experienced Marlow exterior painters and decorators. In particular, it was necessary for our Marlow exterior painting and decorating specialist to be on site because he holds the requisite licence. Considering the poor condition of the Marlow hotel exterior, this project also demanded experienced Marlow painters with methodical and thorough preparation so Phantom – Marlow painting and decorating contractors were drafted in – Marlow exterior painters and decorators.
Specification.
As Marlow exterior painters and decorators, we are experts in carrying out exterior painting and decorating, this Marlow hotel exterior painting was no exception. With 30-years experience, we were not at all fazed by the cracked painted windows and the considerable preparation required to bring the Marlow hotel exterior to such high standard.
The French windows and doors overlooking the River Thames, the side floor-to-ceiling corridor windows and rear sash windows, doors and porthole windows were all exposed to the elements that requires frequent paint protection to preserve the wood and ensure longevity and avert more costly window frame replacement.
All wood window frames were sanded, wood-filled, primed and sanded between undercoats and the Pure Brilliant White exterior gloss finish using Sandtex paints. All masonry render was painted using Sandtex masonry paint and the iron balustrades were painted Black exterior gloss and each of the wood slat balcony decking sanded and treated with exterior stain by our Marlow exterior painters.
The result.
When our Marlow exterior Painter and Decorator arrived, the joiner’s own exterior painter had already started. As the only qualified and experienced Marlow exterior decorators on site we were not too impressed with the level of preparation being executed so we took over the supervision of this project to deliver a much higher standard, within safe parameters and on time for the hotel scheduled re-opening following many months of lockdown.
All Marlow exterior painters on site were instructed to carry out thorough and methodical preparation to ensure that the window frames appear almost new after the Pure Brilliant White high gloss finish, that can be evidenced in our slideshow above.
